Syrah is one of the great, noble grape varieties because it can produce such fabulously dark, rich-bodied and age-worthy wines. Expect darker fruit flavours from blackberry and plum to black currant. In warmer regions, coffee, leather, smoke, iron, violet, spice and licorice can emerge, and gamey or truffle notes will develop with some age.

When you first open this bottle, the bouquet is lush–full of prune, cassis and blueberry. We recommend slightly chilling to observe the delicate layers unravel as it warms to room temperature. The nose gives coffee bean, cocoa, and a little bit of bacon fat underneath a blanket of dark fruit. The palate follows with similar notes found on the nose; dark fruit, wild herbs, leather, iron, violets, and white and black pepper. The rich texture, fine tannins and uplifting acidity will pair beautifully with a variety of dark meats rubbed with peppercorns or dried herb. Decant for 20-30 minutes and slightly chill for the best expression.
