The greatest myth about white wine and the weather is that it is to only be enjoyed during the summer. This may be the case for those that are light, but full-bodied and structured white wines can be great companions during the winter. Therefore it is the perfect time of year to delve into our delightful collection of Jean-Paul Mauler wines. They have certainly in my opinion, hit the bullseye on the perfect winter pick-me-up.

Earlier this year we began a collaboration with Italian wine maker Casa Paladin which includes Tuscan wine producer Fattoria di Castelvecchi and Veneto producer Casa Lupo. Their wines are exceptional and have been very well received in the B.C. market. In align with out expectation we sold out quickly and want to thank all our clients for their ongoing support! The good news is we are fully reloaded with over 100 x 6 packs of all their wines.

One of the many beautiful things about viticulture is that no two regions are the same. In fact, the difference between neighbouring vineyards can be staggering and Bordeaux is the perfect example of this.

‘I am convinced the Castillon terroir here is underestimated because it is later ripening than St-Emilion,’ says Neipperg. ‘Growers prefer lighter, precocious soils because they are easier and more reliable. But now, with techniques such as leaf removal, you can get earlier ripening in Castillon.

The nose gives coffee bean, cocoa, and a little bit of bacon fat underneath a blanket of dark fruit. The palate follows with similar notes found on the nose; dark fruit, wild herbs, leather, iron, violets, and white and black pepper.

The Lords of Bouqueyran first planted vines and constructed this charming estate halfway between Margaux and Saint-Julien in the 14th and 15th centuries. In 1862, the property was sold to Raymond Robin, owner of Château Citran Cru Bourgeois, who expanded upon the castle, adding two pavilion towers and a workers' house which still exists next to the château.

Crowned one of the best vintages to ever come out of Bordeaux, 2016 offers rich, ripe fruit with a tannic structure that gives a promise of cellar longevity. The first half of the year was exceedingly wet and the second half was bone dry. Combine these two and the resulting wines are incredibly well-balanced.
